A vibrant, citrusy Halloween punch that creates a dramatic dry ice fog effect. Perfect for parties, it’s easy to make with simple ingredients and delivers a spooky, crowd-pleasing performance.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups pineapple juice (unsweetened)
  • 4 cups cranberry juice cocktail
  • 2 cups orange juice
  • 1 cup lemon juice (fresh)
  • 2 cups ginger ale or lemon-lime soda
  • 1 cup simple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • Ice ring or ice block (optional)
  • 23 pounds food-grade dry ice
  • Fresh fruit for garnish (orange slices, lime wheels, cranberries)
  • Frozen gummy worms or spiders (optional)

Instructions

  1. Make the simple syrup (if using homemade): Combine 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water in a small saucepan. Heat over medium, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves completely. Remove from heat and let it cool to room temperature. This takes about 10 minutes total.
  2. Combine the juices: In your punch bowl or drink dispenser, pour in the pineapple juice, cranberry juice cocktail, orange juice, and lemon juice. Stir gently to combine.
  3. Add the simple syrup: Pour in the cooled simple syrup and stir again. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness as needed.
  4. Chill the base: If not serving immediately, cover the punch bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  5. Add the fizzy element: Just before serving, pour in the ginger ale or lemon-lime soda. Stir gently.
  6. Add the ice ring: If using an ice ring or ice block, place it in the punch now.
  7. Add the dry ice (safely!): Put on thick gloves or use tongs. Carefully place a small chunk of dry ice (about the size of a golf ball) into the punch. Do not let it touch the sides of a glass bowl.
  8. Garnish: Float orange slices, lime wheels, and fresh cranberries on top. Add gummy worms or spiders if desired.
  9. Serve immediately: Ladle the punch into cups, avoiding scooping up the dry ice. The fog will last about 10-15 minutes.
  10. Replenish the dry ice: As the fog fades, add another small piece of dry ice. A 2-3 pound block usually lasts about 2-3 hours if added in small pieces.

Notes

Handle dry ice with thick gloves or tongs—never bare skin. Chill the juice base thoroughly for best fog effect. Add dry ice in small pieces (golf ball size) to control fog. Keep punch bowl out of reach of children. Do not use metal bowls with dry ice.
