A quick, easy, and festive Halloween sangria made with red wine, grape soda, and frozen berries. This stress-free party drink is perfect for last-minute gatherings and requires no cooking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle (750ml) fruity, low-tannin red wine (such as Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon)
  • 1 can (12 oz) grape soda
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 cup frozen mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
  • 1 large orange, sliced into rounds
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 1 cup vodka or white rum (optional, for stronger kick)
  • 1 cup grape juice (optional, for extra sweetness and color)

Instructions

  1. Wash oranges and lemons thoroughly. Slice the orange into thin rounds and the lemon into half-rounds.
  2. Place the fruit slices into the bottom of a large glass pitcher (2-3 quart capacity).
  3. Pour the red wine over the fruit in the pitcher. If adding vodka or rum, add it now.
  4. Stir gently with a long-handled spoon to combine liquids and fruit.
  5. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for 30 minutes to 2 hours to allow flavors to meld (optional but recommended). Add frozen berries during this time.
  6. Just before serving, open the grape soda and pour it into the pitcher. Gently swirl to mix without losing carbonation.
  7. Fill cups with ice if desired. Ladle sangria into glasses, ensuring each cup gets some fruit.
  8. Garnish with an extra orange slice or mint sprig and serve immediately.

Notes

Do not add the grape soda until just before serving to maintain carbonation. If making ahead, store the wine and fruit base in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours, adding soda only when ready to serve. Frozen berries act as ice cubes to keep the drink cold without diluting it.
