A light, fruity, and refreshing punch combining sweet watermelon juice with tangy lime sherbet and fizzy lemon-lime soda, perfect for baby showers and summer celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups (950 ml) fresh watermelon juice, blended and strained
  • 1 pint (475 ml) lime sherbet
  • 2 cups (475 ml) lemon-lime soda, chilled
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (optional)
  • A handful fresh mint leaves, torn or whole
  • Ice cubes as needed

Instructions

  1. Cut about 4 cups of watermelon flesh, removing seeds as much as possible. Blend in a high-speed blender until smooth (about 1-2 minutes). Strain through a fine mesh sieve for a smoother punch.
  2. If watermelon isn’t very sweet, stir in 1-2 tablespoons sugar until dissolved.
  3. Stir in 2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lime juice.
  4. Chill the watermelon juice mixture in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Just before serving, pour 2 cups of lemon-lime soda into a punch bowl or serving pitcher.
  6. Carefully spoon in the lime sherbet (about 1 pint).
  7. Gently swirl the sherbet and soda together with a long spoon or ladle without breaking it up too much.
  8. Slowly pour the chilled watermelon-lime juice into the punch bowl with the soda and sherbet, stirring gently to combine.
  9. Add ice cubes to keep the punch cool and garnish generously with fresh mint leaves.
  10. Serve immediately, ladling into glasses with a mint sprig or small watermelon wedge on the rim.

Notes

Use ripe watermelon for best flavor. Chill all components before mixing to prevent sherbet from melting too quickly. Add ice just before serving to avoid dilution. For dairy-free, use lime sorbet instead of sherbet. Alcohol can be added just before serving for an adult version.
