A reliable, no-cook breakfast that combines rolled oats and chia seeds with milk and berries. It requires minimal active time and provides a creamy, nutrient-dense meal perfect for meal prep.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup (45g) old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 2 tablespoons (20g) chia seeds
  • 1 cup (240ml) milk of choice (almond, oat, dairy, or coconut)
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) honey or maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/2 cup (75g) mixed berries (fresh or frozen)

Instructions

  1. In your jar, add the rolled oats and chia seeds. Stir them together with a spoon to ensure they are evenly distributed.
  2. Pour in your milk of choice. Add the honey or maple syrup, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Stir well to ensure chia seeds are fully submerged.
  3. Let the mixture sit for 5 minutes, then stir again to prevent clumping and ensure consistent texture.
  4. Gently fold in half of your berries. Reserve the other half for topping.
  5. Cover the jar with a lid or plastic wrap and place it in the fridge for at least 8 hours or overnight.
  6. In the morning, give it a good stir. If too thick, add a splash of milk. Top with remaining berries and enjoy cold.

Notes

Do not skip the second stir after 5 minutes to prevent chia clumping. Use old-fashioned rolled oats, not steel-cut or quick oats. If using frozen berries, let them thaw slightly before mixing. The mixture can be stored in the fridge for up to 5 days.
