A quick and easy patriotic charcuterie board featuring creamy brie, fresh red, white, and blue berries, crunchy crackers, and a touch of honey and herbs for a festive and delicious summer snack or appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces (225g) Brie cheese, soft wheel or wedge
  • 1 cup (about 150g) fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
  • 1 cup (about 150g) fresh blueberries, washed and patted dry
  • ½ cup (about 75g) fresh raspberries (optional)
  • 1 to 2 cups crackers or baguette slices, sturdy variety like water crackers or thin crostini
  • 2 tablespoons honey, preferably raw or local variety
  • A few sprigs of fresh herbs such as mint or thyme
  • ¼ cup (30g) toasted almonds or pecans (optional)
  • ½ cup olives or pickles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse all berries gently under cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Hull the strawberries and slice them in halves or quarters, depending on size. Set aside. (5 minutes)
  2. Using a sharp knife, cut the brie into wedges or small slices about ½ inch thick (1.25 cm). Reserve a small piece to crumble over the board later if desired. (3 minutes)
  3. Spread out your crackers or baguette slices around the edges of your serving board or in small clusters for easy grabbing. (2 minutes)
  4. Arrange the brie slices centrally or in a few spots on the board for visual balance, fanning out a few slices. (2 minutes)
  5. Place strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries in clusters around the brie and crackers to create the patriotic red, white, and blue effect. (3 minutes)
  6. Spoon honey into small bowls or ramekins and place them on the board. Add nuts or olives to their own bowls or sprinkle nuts loosely around the board if using. (3 minutes)
  7. Scatter mint or thyme sprigs over the berries and cheese for a pop of green and fresh aroma. (1 minute)
  8. Drizzle a little honey over the brie just before serving for sweetness and shine (optional but recommended). (1 minute)

Notes

Let brie sit at room temperature for 15 minutes before serving to soften and enhance flavor. Wash and dry berries just before assembling to avoid mushiness. Drizzle honey just before serving for best appearance and taste. For gluten-free, use almond flour or rice crackers. For dairy-free, substitute brie with soft cashew-based cheese. Frozen berries can be used when fresh are out of season.
