Ingredients

Scale
  • Red Layer: 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) strawberry or cherry flavored gelatin (Jell-O brand recommended)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold vodka or water for a non-alcoholic version
  • White Layer: 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) unflavored gelatin powder
  • 1 cup (240 ml) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold vodka or water
  • Blue Layer: 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) blueberry or blue raspberry flavored gelatin
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold vodka or water

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Red Layer: In a mixing bowl, dissolve the strawberry gelatin in 1 cup boiling water. Stir until completely dissolved (about 2 minutes). Add 1/2 cup cold vodka (or water) and mix gently.
  2. Pour Red Layer: Ladle the red gelatin mixture into each shot cup, filling about one-third full. Place in the refrigerator for 30-40 minutes until firm but not fully set.
  3. Make the White Layer: While the red layer chills, dissolve unflavored gelatin in 1 cup boiling water. Stir until completely dissolved. Add sweetened condensed milk and 1/2 cup cold vodka (or water). Mix until smooth.
  4. Layer the White: Once the red layer is tacky, gently pour the white layer over it, filling another third of the cup. Return to the fridge for 40-50 minutes until set but slightly tacky.
  5. Prepare the Blue Layer: Dissolve blueberry gelatin in 1 cup boiling water. Stir well, then add 1/2 cup cold vodka or water.
  6. Top with Blue Layer: Pour the blue gelatin on top of the white layer, filling the cups to the top. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight to fully set.
  7. Serve chilled. Optionally garnish with small blueberries or a sprig of mint.

Notes

Pour each layer slowly over the back of a spoon to avoid mixing. Chill layers until tacky but not fully firm before adding the next layer. Use quality gelatin for best texture and clarity. For non-alcoholic versions, substitute vodka with water or lemon-lime soda. Store covered in refrigerator up to 3 days or freeze up to 1 month.
