A fun and spooky Halloween appetizer that transforms classic deviled eggs into edible spiders using black olive legs. This recipe is quick, easy to make, and perfect for kids and parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 large eggs, hard-boiled and peeled
  • 3 tablespoons high-quality mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 12 slices pitted black olives
  • Paprika, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Place eggs in a single layer in a pot and cover with cold water by an inch. Bring to a rolling boil, then remove from heat, cover, and let sit for 12 minutes.
  2. Transfer eggs to an ice bath and let cool for at least 10 minutes to stop cooking and ease peeling.
  3. Peel the eggs under running water if necessary, pat dry, and cut each egg in half lengthwise.
  4. Scoop out yolks into a mixing bowl. Discard whites or save for another use.
  5. Add mayonnaise, mustard, vinegar, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to the yolks. Mash and whisk until smooth and creamy.
  6. Transfer the yolk mixture to a small ziplock bag with the corner snipped off (or a piping bag). Pipe the filling into the egg white halves.
  7. Cut each olive slice in half diagonally to create four pieces. Place two pieces on each side of the yolk mound, angling outward like spider legs.
  8. Dust lightly with paprika and serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to serve.

Notes

Use eggs that are about a week old for easier peeling. Ensure eggs are completely dry before filling to help the filling adhere. If the filling is too runny, chill it for 15 minutes before piping. Do not freeze these eggs as the texture will become rubbery.
