  • 4 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 cup whole milk (240 ml)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream (120 ml)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed (50 grams)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional: chopped nuts or raisins
  • For the glaze:
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (60 grams)
  • 2 tablespoons milk or cream (30 ml)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
  2. Cut the canned cinnamon rolls into quarters.
  3. Spread the cinnamon roll pieces evenly in the baking dish, allowing some overlap.
  4. In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, brown sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until smooth and well combined.
  5. Pour the custard mixture over the cinnamon roll pieces, gently pressing them down to soak evenly.
  6. Cover the dish tightly with plastic wrap or foil and refrigerate for at least 6 hours or overnight.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Remove the casserole from the fridge and let it sit at room temperature for 10 minutes.
  8. Bake uncovered for 35-40 minutes until the top is golden brown and the custard is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
  9. While baking, whisk together powdered sugar, milk or cream, and vanilla extract until smooth to make the glaze.
  10. Allow the casserole to cool for 10-15 minutes, then drizzle the glaze over the top and serve warm.

Notes

Do not skip the overnight soak for best texture. Use room temperature eggs to avoid lumps. Gently press cinnamon roll pieces after pouring custard to help soak.
