A simple, moist, and delicious chocolate chip banana bread made in one bowl, perfect for quick baking and comforting snacks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 medium ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1 Β½ cups (190g) all-purpose flour
  • ΒΎ cup (150g) granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • Β½ teaspoon salt
  • β…“ cup (75g) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ΒΎ cup (135g) mini semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Mash the bananas in a large mixing bowl until smooth but slightly chunky.
  3. Add the melted butter to the bananas and stir well.
  4. Mix in the sugar, baking soda, and salt until combined.
  5. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract; mix thoroughly but do not overbeat.
  6. Gradually fold in the flour until just combined.
  7. Gently fold in the chocolate chips, reserving a few to sprinkle on top if desired.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Scatter reserved chocolate chips over the top.
  9. Bake for 55-65 minutes, checking doneness with a toothpick inserted in the center; it should come out with a few moist crumbs but no raw batter.
  10. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely or serve warm.

Notes

If the top browns too quickly, tent loosely with foil halfway through baking. Start checking doneness at 50 minutes if your oven runs hot or unevenly. For gluten-free, use 1:1 gluten-free baking flour. For dairy-free, substitute butter with coconut oil and use dairy-free chocolate chips. Muffin tin can be used for mini breads with adjusted baking time (20-25 minutes).
