Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups cranberry juice (unsweetened or regular)
  • 4 cups grape juice (purple, not white)
  • 2 cups pineapple juice
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice (fresh)
  • 1/4 cup lime juice (fresh)
  • 1/2 cup simple syrup (optional)
  • 4 cups ginger ale or lemon-lime soda
  • 1 quart orange sherbet
  • 1 pint raspberry or rainbow sherbet (optional)
  • Dry ice (for garnish, optional)
  • Gummy worms or spiders (for garnish, optional)
  • Orange slices (for garnish, optional)
  • Fresh cranberries (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Soften the sherbet. Take the orange sherbet out of the freezer about 10 minutes before you plan to scoop. You want it soft enough to form into balls but not melting.
  2. Mix the juice base. In a large pitcher, combine the cranberry juice, grape juice, pineapple juice, orange juice, lemon juice, and lime juice. Stir well. Taste and add simple syrup if desired.
  3. Chill everything. Pour the juice mixture into your punch bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving. For quicker chilling, add ice cubes made from the same juice mixture.
  4. Add the fizz. Right before serving, pour in the ginger ale or lemon-lime soda. Stir gently to combine.
  5. Scoop the sherbet. Using an ice cream scoop, make round balls of orange sherbet (about 12-15 scoops, golf ball size). If using raspberry sherbet, alternate flavors.
  6. Float the sherbet. Gently drop the sherbet balls into the punch. They will float on top.
  7. Add garnishes. If using dry ice, carefully place small pieces into the punch with tongs. Never touch dry ice with bare skin. Add gummy worms, orange slices, or fresh cranberries as desired.
  8. Serve immediately. Ladle the punch into cups, making sure each cup gets a piece of sherbet.

Notes

For best results, chill the juice base thoroughly before serving. Make juice ice cubes to avoid dilution. Add sherbet and carbonation just before serving. Dry ice is for visual effect only—do not consume. The punch is best within the first 30 minutes after adding sherbet. Leftover juice base can be stored for up to 3 days.
