These mummy hot dogs are a fun, savory Halloween treat made with hot dogs wrapped in crescent roll dough and topped with cheese eyes. They’re quick to make, kid-friendly, and perfect for parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (8 count) hot dogs
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 4 slices cheese (mild cheddar or provolone)
  • Mustard or ketchup (optional, for pupils)
  • Non-stick cooking spray or parchment paper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly spray with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Prepare cheese eyes: Cut each cheese slice into 4 small squares or circles (16 total). Set aside.
  3. Open crescent roll dough and separate into 8 triangles. Cut each triangle lengthwise into 3-4 thin strips (about 1/2 inch wide).
  4. Wrap each hot dog with dough strips, starting at one end and leaving a 1-inch gap at the top for eyes. Overlap strips slightly for a mummy look.
  5. Place wrapped hot dogs on prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until dough is golden brown and flaky.
  7. Remove from oven and let cool 1-2 minutes. Place 2 cheese squares on each mummy in the eye gap. Add a tiny dot of mustard or ketchup for pupils if desired.
  8. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

Keep dough cold for easier handling. Don’t wrap too tightly; leave room for expansion. Add cheese eyes after baking to prevent melting. For mini mummies, use cocktail sausages and adjust baking time to 8-10 minutes. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; reheat in a 350°F oven for 5-7 minutes or in an air fryer at 350°F for 3-4 minutes. Avoid microwaving.
