These easy ghost banana bites with chocolate chips are a quick, healthy, and fun Halloween treat that kids love. Ready in just 5 minutes, they’re perfect for last-minute parties or pre-trick-or-treating snacks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 34 ripe but firm bananas
  • 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice (optional, to prevent browning)
  • Optional toppings: melted white chocolate, Greek yogurt, slivered almonds

Instructions

  1. Peel the bananas carefully, starting from the bottom (non-stem end) to avoid stringy bits.
  2. Slice the bananas into rounds about 1/2-inch thick, aiming for 6-8 slices per banana.
  3. Arrange the banana rounds on a plate or tray, leaving space between each.
  4. Press mini chocolate chips into the banana slices to create ghost faces: two chips for eyes, and optionally a third for a mouth. Use a toothpick to draw smiles or other expressions.
  5. Optional: Chill the tray in the fridge for 10-15 minutes to firm up the bananas and help the chips stick.
  6. Serve immediately, preferably within an hour of making.

Notes

Use firm, ripe bananas (yellow with a few brown spots) for best results. Avoid overripe bananas as they will fall apart. Chill the chocolate chips for 5 minutes if your hands are warm to prevent melting. These are best eaten fresh; do not store for more than a few hours. For a vegan version, use dairy-free chocolate chips.
