A simple, stress-free cheese and crackers platter that impresses guests with a balanced mix of flavors and textures. Perfect for casual get-togethers, holiday gatherings, or last-minute entertaining.

Ingredients

  • Sharp Cheddar cheese, sliced or chunked
  • Brie cheese, whole or cut into wedges
  • Goat Cheese, rolled in herbs or plain (optional)
  • Manchego or Gouda cheese for a nutty, slightly sweet option
  • Water crackers
  • Whole grain or multigrain crackers
  • Seeded crackers
  • Fig jam or honey
  • Fresh grapes or apple slices
  • Marcona almonds or toasted walnuts
  • Olives or cornichons (optional)
  • Fresh rosemary or thyme sprigs for garnish
  • Optional: slices of cured meats like prosciutto or salami

Instructions

  1. Remove the cheeses from the fridge about 30 minutes before serving to let them come to room temperature.
  2. Wash and slice any fresh fruit like grapes or apples.
  3. Toast nuts lightly in a dry pan over medium heat for 3-4 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn them.
  4. Cut hard cheeses like cheddar into bite-sized cubes or slices. Slice brie into wedges. For goat cheese, leave whole or slice if firm.
  5. Arrange cheeses spaced out on the board or platter.
  6. Fill in gaps with crackers, fruit, nuts, and small bowls of jam and olives, giving each item room to shine.
  7. Tuck in fresh rosemary or thyme sprigs for color and aroma. Drizzle honey over brie if desired.
  8. Place cheese knives near their respective cheeses and serve immediately.

Notes

Bring cheeses to room temperature before serving for best flavor and texture. Toast nuts lightly to enhance aroma. Avoid overcrowding the platter to keep it visually appealing and easy to serve. Assemble just before guests arrive to keep crackers crisp. For gluten-free or vegan diets, swap crackers and cheeses accordingly.
