A foolproof recipe for making homemade chocolate-covered strawberries that are quick, easy, and perfect for Valentine’s Day or any special occasion. These treats feature a crisp chocolate shell and fresh berries with minimal effort.

Ingredients

  • Fresh Strawberries (large, firm, and dry)
  • Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips (or chopped high-quality chocolate bars)
  • Heavy Cream or Coconut Cream (for dairy-free option)
  • Vegetable Oil or Coconut Oil
  • Sea Salt Flakes (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Wash strawberries gently and pat them completely dry with paper towels. Remove stems or leave tops on for handling. Let sit for 10 minutes to ensure all moisture is gone.
  2. Place chocolate chips in a heatproof bowl set over a pot of barely simmering water (double boiler method), ensuring the bowl does not touch the water. Stir gently with a silicone spatula until melted. Alternatively, microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each.
  3. Once melted and smooth, stir in heavy cream and vegetable oil until the mixture is glossy and fluid.
  4. Hold a strawberry by the stem or use a fork. Lower it into the chocolate, swirling to coat completely. Lift out and let excess drip back into the bowl.
  5. Place dipped strawberries on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Add toppings like sea salt or sprinkles immediately if desired.
  6. Refrigerate for 15-20 minutes to set the chocolate. Serve chilled.

Notes

Ensure all equipment and strawberries are completely dry to prevent the chocolate from seizing. Do not freeze the strawberries as the texture becomes mushy upon thawing. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
