These cherry bomb jello shots combine bold cherry flavor with vodka and bourbon for a fun, easy, and crowd-pleasing party treat that’s ready in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1 package cherry-flavored gelatin powder (about 3 oz / 85g)
  • 1 cup boiling water (240 ml)
  • 1/2 cup cold water (120 ml)
  • 1/2 cup vodka (120 ml)
  • 1/4 cup bourbon (60 ml)
  • Optional: 1 jar maraschino cherries, drained
  • Optional: 1-2 tbsp sugar

Instructions

  1. Boil 1 cup (240 ml) of water. Pour the boiling water into a medium bowl and sprinkle the cherry gelatin powder over it. Stir gently but thoroughly for about 2 minutes until completely dissolved with no granules left. If adding sugar, stir it in here.
  2. Add 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold water to the gelatin mixture and stir to combine. Let it cool for about 10 minutes at room temperature to prevent the alcohol from cooking off when added.
  3. Pour in 1/2 cup (120 ml) vodka and 1/4 cup (60 ml) bourbon into the mixture. Stir gently to mix evenly. The mixture should still be liquid but slightly thickened.
  4. Carefully spoon or pour the mixture into shot glasses or silicone molds. Fill each about 3/4 full to allow room for garnish.
  5. Drop a maraschino cherry into each shot for garnish and extra cherry flavor (optional).
  6. Place the filled molds or glasses on a tray and refrigerate for at least 3-4 hours, or until fully set. Overnight works even better.
  7. Once set, if using silicone molds, gently pop the shots out onto a platter. If using glasses, serve as is. Keep chilled until ready to serve.

Notes

Do not add alcohol to hot gelatin mixture to preserve the boozy kick. Let gelatin cool before adding alcohol. Adjust gelatin powder slightly if shots are too stiff or too wobbly. Use quality vodka and bourbon for best flavor. Keep shots chilled until serving. Shots stay fresh refrigerated up to 3 days. Avoid freezing fully to maintain texture.
