A fun and festive Halloween snack featuring hot dogs wrapped in refrigerated pretzel dough, baked until golden brown and crispy. This easy recipe requires no boiling and delivers a perfect balance of salty, savory, and sweet flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tube (14.1 oz) refrigerated pretzel dough
  • 8 to 10 standard beef or pork hot dogs
  • 1 large egg, beaten with 1 tablespoon water
  • Coarse sea salt, for sprinkling
  • Pretzel salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Whisk the egg and water together in a small bowl to create an egg wash.
  4. Unroll the pretzel dough and separate it into two equal halves.
  5. Cut one half of the dough lengthwise into three or four long strips.
  6. Wrap a hot dog tightly with the dough strips, crossing them over like bandages and leaving a small gap at the top for eyes. Tuck ends under to secure.
  7. Repeat with remaining hot dogs and dough.
  8. Brush the dough strips generously with the egg wash.
  9. Sprinkle coarse sea salt over the egg-washed dough.
  10. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes until golden brown and puffed up.
  11. Cool for 2 minutes before serving warm with mustard or ketchup.

Notes

Ensure the dough is at room temperature before wrapping to prevent cracking. Wrap the dough tightly to prevent unraveling. If the dough browns too quickly, cover with foil. Do not microwave leftovers as it makes the dough soggy; reheat in the oven at 350°F for 10 minutes.
