A quick and easy smoothie bowl made with frozen banana, peanut butter, and protein powder, offering a thick, creamy texture that feels like a treat but is packed with protein to keep you full until lunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large frozen banana, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
  • 1 scoop vanilla or unflavored protein powder
  • 1/2 cup milk (any kind)
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • 34 ice cubes (optional)
  • For toppings: sliced banana, fresh berries, granola, chia seeds, shredded coconut, extra peanut butter drizzle, cacao nibs or dark chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Prep your banana: Peel a large ripe banana, slice it into coins, and arrange them in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Freeze for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  2. Gather your ingredients: Measure out 2 tablespoons of creamy peanut butter, 1 scoop of vanilla or unflavored protein powder, 1/4 cup of plain Greek yogurt, and 1/2 cup of your preferred milk. If using honey or maple syrup, have that ready too.
  3. Layer in the blender: Start with the liquidโ€”pour the milk into the blender first. Add the Greek yogurt, peanut butter, protein powder, and frozen banana slices on top. If using ice cubes, add them last.
  4. Blend on low: Start your blender on low speed for about 10 seconds to break up the frozen banana. Then increase to high speed and blend for 30-45 seconds. Stop and scrape down the sides with a spatula as needed.
  5. Check the consistency: The smoothie bowl should be thick enough to hold a spoon upright. If too thick, add a splash of milk (1 tablespoon at a time) and blend again. If too thin, add a few more frozen banana slices or an ice cube and blend until thick.
  6. Taste and adjust: Take a small taste. Need more sweetness? Add a drizzle of honey or maple syrup. Want more peanut butter flavor? Swirl in an extra tablespoon.
  7. Pour into a bowl: Use your spatula to scrape every bit of the smoothie into a bowl. The mixture should be thick and spoonable. If too runny, pop the bowl in the freezer for 5 minutes to firm up.
  8. Add your toppings: Arrange toppings in little piles for visual appealโ€”sliced banana, granola, a drizzle of peanut butter, and a sprinkle of chia seeds. Get creative with whatever you have on hand.
  9. Serve immediately: Smoothie bowls are best eaten right away while theyโ€™re cold and thick.

Notes

Use a very ripe banana with brown spots for maximum sweetness. Start with less milk and add more as needed to avoid a runny smoothie. Do not over-blend to prevent melting the frozen banana. For a thicker bowl, let the blended mixture sit in the freezer for 5 minutes before serving.
