Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup buffalo hot sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 packet ranch seasoning mix
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 cup sour cream (for drizzle)
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for drizzle)
  • 1 tablespoon ranch seasoning mix (for drizzle)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh dill, chopped (optional, for drizzle)
  • Tortilla chips, for serving
  • Celery sticks, for serving
  • Carrot sticks, for serving
  • Crusty bread or baguette slices, for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Soften the cream cheese by letting it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes or microwaving for 10-15 seconds.
  2. Shred the cooked chicken into bite-sized pieces using two forks. You should have about 2 cups.
  3. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, 1/2 cup sour cream, buffalo hot sauce, ranch seasoning packet, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir until smooth and well combined.
  4. Fold in the shredded chicken, 3/4 cup of the cheddar cheese, and all of the mozzarella cheese until evenly coated. Reserve the remaining 1/4 cup cheddar for topping.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×9 baking dish and spread into an even layer. Sprinkle the reserved cheddar cheese on top.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until hot and bubbly around the edges. For a more browned top, broil for 1-2 minutes at the end, watching carefully.
  7. While the dip bakes, make the ranch drizzle: In a small bowl, whisk together 1/4 cup sour cream, milk, 1 tablespoon ranch seasoning, and fresh dill (if using). Adjust consistency with more milk or sour cream as needed.
  8. Let the dip rest for 5 minutes after baking to set slightly.
  9. Drizzle the ranch mixture over the top in a zigzag pattern just before serving. Garnish with fresh chives or green onions if desired. Serve immediately with tortilla chips, celery sticks, and carrot sticks.

Notes

Do not overbake the dip, or the cream cheese may separate. Let the dip rest for 5 minutes after baking to set. The ranch drizzle is best made fresh; it does not store well. For a milder version, reduce hot sauce to 1/4 cup. For extra heat, add cayenne pepper or a diced habanero.
