A quick and easy summer drink blending frozen lemonade concentrate, fresh mint, and optional bourbon into a refreshing icy slushie perfect for hot days and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz (340 g) frozen lemonade concentrate
  • 20 fresh mint leaves
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) bourbon whiskey (optional)
  • 4 cups (950 ml) ice cubes
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) simple syrup
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) water

Instructions

  1. Gently rinse about 20 fresh mint leaves and pat dry. Set aside 4 leaves for garnish. Tear the rest roughly to release their aroma.
  2. Add frozen lemonade concentrate, torn mint leaves, bourbon (if using), simple syrup, fresh lemon juice, and water to the blender.
  3. Pour in 4 cups of ice cubes. Use crushed ice if your blender struggles.
  4. Pulse the blender a few times to break up the ice, then blend on high for 30-45 seconds until smooth, icy slush texture is achieved. Scrape down sides if needed.
  5. Taste the slushie and adjust sweetness by adding more simple syrup if too tart, or add a splash of water if too thick. Blend briefly after adjustments.
  6. Pour into chilled julep cups or glasses. Garnish each with a fresh mint sprig and a lemon wheel or wedge on the rim. Serve immediately.

Notes

Use fresh, vibrant mint leaves for best aroma. Avoid over-blending to maintain slush texture. Adjust sweetness last to balance tartness. For extra mint flavor, muddle a few leaves in the glass before pouring. Store leftovers in airtight container in freezer up to 24 hours; re-blend before serving.
