Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (240 ml) fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) agave syrup
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) water

Instructions

  1. Juice about 8-10 medium limes to yield 1 cup (240 ml) of fresh lime juice using a citrus juicer or reamer.
  2. In a medium bowl or pitcher, combine the fresh lime juice, 1/2 cup (120 ml) agave syrup, and 1/2 cup (120 ml) water.
  3. Whisk or stir the mixture until the agave syrup is fully dissolved and the liquid is smooth and uniform.
  4. Taste and adjust the mix by adding a little more agave syrup if too tart, or more lime juice or water if too sweet.
  5. Pour the margarita mix into a clean glass bottle or jar, seal tightly, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before using.
  6. To serve, combine 2 ounces (60 ml) of the margarita mix with 2 ounces (60 ml) of your favorite tequila and ice in a shaker or glass. Shake or stir well and serve with a salted rim and lime wedge if desired.

Notes

Use fresh lime juice for best flavor. Adjust sweetness by adding agave syrup or lime juice to taste. Chill the mix for at least 1 hour to let flavors meld. Shake well before use if separation occurs. Store in sealed glass container in fridge up to 5 days. For a tangier mix, add extra lime juice. For lower sugar, reduce agave syrup and add sparkling water when serving. Optional variations include adding jalapeΓ±o slices for spice or blending in fruit for a twist.
