  • 6 cups (about 180g) Rice Krispies cereal
  • 10 oz (about 280g) mini or regular marshmallows
  • 3 tablespoons (about 43g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup (about 175g) white candy melts or white chocolate chips
  • ¼ cup (about 45g) blue candy melts or blue decorating gel
  • Black decorating gel or edible marker
  • 12–15 lollipop sticks
  • Non-stick spray or additional butter for greasing

Instructions

  1. Prepare your workspace by lining a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Lightly grease your hands with butter or non-stick spray to prevent sticking.
  2. In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine 3 tablespoons (43g) of unsalted butter and 10 oz (280g) of marshmallows. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the mixture is smooth and fully melted (about 2-3 minutes).
  3. Immediately add 6 cups (180g) of Rice Krispies cereal to the melted marshmallow mixture. Stir quickly but gently until all the cereal is coated evenly.
  4. Using greased hands, scoop out portions of the mixture and mold them into small dome shapes about 2 inches (5 cm) in diameter to resemble R2-D2’s rounded head. Insert a lollipop stick halfway into each dome, twisting slightly to secure. Place the pops on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Refrigerate the shaped treats for at least 20 minutes to firm up before decorating.
  6. Melt 1 cup (175g) of white candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second bursts, stirring until smooth. Add a teaspoon of vegetable oil if needed to thin.
  7. Dip each chilled Rice Krispie pop into the melted white candy, using a spoon to help cover if needed. Let excess drip off, then place the pop back on the parchment paper.
  8. Melt ¼ cup (45g) blue candy melts and transfer to a piping bag or zip-top bag. Pipe the blue panels, lines, and shapes on the white-coated pops. Use black decorating gel or an edible marker for eyes and smaller details.
  9. Allow the decorated pops to rest at room temperature or in the fridge until the candy coating hardens, about 20-30 minutes.
