A quick and easy creamy cheese dip that’s perfect for parties and crowd-pleasing. Made with simple ingredients and a smooth, luscious texture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded (about 100g)
  • 1/2 cup milk (whole or 2%, about 120ml)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • Fresh chives, chopped (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep your ingredients: Remove the cream cheese from the fridge to soften while shredding the cheddar cheese.
  2. In a medium saucepan over low heat, add the softened cream cheese and milk. Stir gently but continuously until the cream cheese starts to melt and the mixture becomes smooth.
  3. Gradually add the shredded cheddar cheese, stirring constantly until the cheese melts smoothly into the mixture. Lower the heat if it gets lumpy or sticks.
  4. Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  5. Keep the heat low and stir for another 3-4 minutes until the dip is creamy and homogenous.
  6. Pour the dip into a serving bowl and sprinkle chopped fresh chives on top for garnish.

Notes

Use low heat to prevent cheese from becoming grainy. Soften cream cheese before melting for smooth texture. If dip is too thick, add a splash more milk; if too thin, add more shredded cheese. Can be kept warm over a double boiler or slow cooker on low heat. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheat gently.
